FLORENCE, S.C. – Brandie Hayes has been named director of alumni affairs at Francis Marion University.
Hayes will be responsible for developing and managing an effective alumni relations program to stimulate interest, build loyalty, increase involvement, and generate support for the university.
Hayes is a 2001 graduate of FMU with a B.B.A. degree in marketing. She graduated cum laude and with University Honors. She replaces Kelly Sellers, who left to pursue a career in teaching.
"We are very excited about Brandie joining us as the director of alumni affairs," said Libby Cooper, FMU’s director of community relations. "She brings a wonderful mix of enthusiasm, energy and talent to this position and I know she will work diligently to provide new programs, information, and events to keep our graduates connected to their alma mater."
A Salters native, Hayes most recently served as director of corporate relations for the American Heart Association. Prior to that, she was a store sales manager for Gymboree Corp. She received several awards for her work in both positions.
While a student at FMU, she was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Beta Gamma Sigma honor societies, as well as Kappa Delta sorority. She is currently a member of the Junior League of Florence.
"When I was a student at FMU, I always said I wanted to come back to my alma mater to work," said Hayes. "I am very excited to be ‘coming home.’ It’s a dream come true."
Hayes is the daughter of Chris and Rosie Osborne of Salters. Her husband, Nick, is also an FMU graduate. The couple recently had their first child, Christopher Blane, who was born in May. The family resides in Florence.
