FMU Planetarium to show "The Christmas Star" program, Dec. 11

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present the second showing of its annual holiday program titled “The Christmas Star,” Sunday (Dec. 11).

The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins.

This annual program examines the event or celestial object that may have been the Christmas star.

Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. The Christmas Star program will be repeated for the final time on Dec. 18. The planetarium will not be open on Dec. 25.

For additional information about the planetarium, call planetarium director Jeannette M. Myers at 843-661-1441, or visit its website at http://astro.fmarion.edu/planet/
