FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University freshman shortstop Allie Aleman has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference women’s softball “Player of the Week” for the week of Feb. 15-21.
Aleman, a 5-5 native of Santa Ana, Calif., batted .600 last week as the Patriots went 6-0. Six of her 12 hits were for extra bases and produced a .900 slugging percentage. She also collected eight RBIs and scored seven runs. She had multiple hits in four of the six games, including a trio of doubles during a 7-1 win over Mount Olive College on Feb. 17. In a PBC twinbill with USC Upstate, she was four-for-six with a double and three RBIs.
For the season, Aleman is batting .478 with 10 doubles and 14 RBIs, and has hit safely in her last seven contests. She has helped lead the Patriots to a 13-1 start and with a 2-0 conference mark, the Patriots sit atop the PBC standings.
Francis Marion will return to action on Friday when the Patriots entertain PBC foe Georgia College & State University for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
