FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior Danielle Moore has been named the Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball “Player of the Week” for the week of Feb. 14-20.
Moore, a 6-0 guard-forward from Owings Mills, Md., averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 blocked shots per game last week in two Patriot conference wins. She connected on 50.0 percent of her field goal attempts and 81.3 percent of her free throws, while also recording four steals.
She tallied 19 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks in a 66-58 road win at Lander University. During the game, she moved into eighth place on the FMU career list for blocked shots with 73. She then compiled 22 points and nine rebounds in a 73-62 victory over Georgia College & State University on Feb. 19.
For the season, Moore is averaging 11.2 ppg and 4.6 rpg, while leading the team with 41 steals.
She has helped lead the 10-15 Patriots to three straight PBC wins as FMU has climbed back into the race for the North Division title. At 6-8, the Patriots are only two games behind division-leaders USC Aiken and UNC Pembroke. Francis Marion hosts UNCP on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for the Patriots’ final home game of the season.
