FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s tennis team remains 23rd for the third consecutive poll according to the most recent ITA Wingspan Collegiate Tennis NCAA Division II Top 40 rankings. Several Patriot players are also ranked in the latest singles and doubles listings.
The Patriots are 11-3 overall, with all three losses being to squads currently ranked 15th or higher, and 2-3 in the highly competitive Peach Belt Conference. Nine PBC squads are ranked in this week’s poll.
FMU will play host to 14th-ranked Columbus State University, March 23 at 2 p.m. on the Kassab Courts.
FMU junior Kevin Taylor is ranked 15th in the Division II men’s singles rankings, while Patriot sophomore Chatwinder Singh is 32nd. Taylor, ranked 16th in the previous poll, owns an 11-2 mark playing in the No. 1 singles spot, while Singh is 12-1 at the No. 2 position.
Taylor and freshman Franklyn Emmanuel occupy the No. 21 spot in the double rankings with a 10-3 record.
In the women’s rankings, FMU sophomore Kamini Murugaboopathy is 33rd among Division II singles players. She occupies the No.1 spot in the FMU squad and has compiled an 8-5 record.
