FLORENCE, S.C. – Following its two losses in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament, the Francis Marion University baseball team fell six spots to 14th in the latest Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, released this week.
The Patriots ended their season 34-16-1, one win shy of the school record for victories in a season. Francis Marion made its second NCAA national tournament appearance in three years. Ten of FMU’s 16 losses this season were to nationally ranked opponents.
This is the Patriots’ 13th consecutive week appearing in the Top 30 poll, six weeks of which were spent in the Top 10.
Six Peach Belt squads are listed in this week’s poll, including three in the Top 10. Central Missouri State University (55-7) remained in the No. 1 spot after winning three games last week.
