FLORENCE, S.C. – Former Francis Marion University center fielder Quentin Davis begins his professional career tonight (June 21) when the Danville (Va.) Braves open their 2005 season.
Davis was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 13th round of Major League Baseball’s 2005 First-Year Player Draft on June 7.
Danville will open its season with a three-game series at the Pulaski (Va.) Blue Jays. All three contests, June 21-23, will start at 7 p.m. The Braves are members of the Appalachian League, a Class A Rookie league.
Paul Runge is the manager of the Danville squad.
As a senior, Davis earned second-team NCAA Division II South Atlantic All-Region Team honors and was named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Conference squad. The Darlington native batted a team-leading .353 this past season with 44 runs scored, nine doubles, and 41 runs batted in. He also led the Patriots with six triples, four home runs, 25 stolen bases (in 31 attempts), a .433 on-base percentage, and a .529 slugging percentage.
