FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen has been selected to play in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League’s All-Star Game, July 14 at Spartanburg’s Duncan Park. The game will start at 7 p.m.
Owen, a native of Chesterfield, will represent the Rock Hill Sox on the SCBL’s Southern Division squad.
The SCBL is a wooden bat league with 10 teams in the Carolinas and Eastern Tennessee, and its schedule consists of at least 38 games beginning in early June.
Through July 7, Owen was 4-1 with a 1.24 earned run average for the 12-9 Sox. He was tied for the SCBL lead in wins and ranked second in both ERA and strikeouts (41 in only 29 innings).
Owen recently completed a successful freshman year at FMU, posting a 6-4 record with a 3.01 ERA and a team-leading 87 strikeouts in 95.2 innings. He helped lead the Patriots to a 34-16-1 record, a No. 14 national ranking, and a spot in the NCAA Division II national tournament.
