FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University golf coach Mark Gaynor has announced that Louis-Pierre Godin of Champlain, Quebec, Canada, will transfer from Coker College and join the Patriot program for the 2005-06 season.
Godin recently earned his undergraduate degree from Coker and played two seasons for the Cobras. He will be working toward a graduate degree at FMU, and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
This past season, the 6-1 left-hander compiled a 74.4 stroke average and tied for 16th at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tournament. He tied for fourth place at the CVAC Tournament.
For his accomplishments, he was named the 2005 CVAC Player of the Year, while earning PING All-Region honors. He also garnered All-Conference and Coker M.V.P. recognition for the second consecutive year.
“Louis is a major addition to our program,” said Gaynor. “He has had a solid collegiate career to this point, and has a bright future.”
Francis Marion returns its entire roster from last season’s squad that placed fifth at both the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.
