FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University golf coach Mark Gaynor has announced the signing of Andrew Pitcher and Ronan O’Connor, both of Dublin, Ireland, to national letters of intent to attend FMU and play for the Patriots this fall.
Pitcher is a product of Catholic University School, while O’Connor graduated from St. Micheal’s High School. Both will enter FMU as freshmen and have four years of eligibility.
Both players are members of the Irish Junior National Team. Pitcher reached the quarterfinals of last month’s North of Ireland Amateur Open at Royal Portrush.
“I am very pleased to have these two young men joining our program,” said Gaynor. “They will be nice additions to our current roster, and will be the foundation of future FMU squads.”
Francis Marion returns its entire roster from last season’s squad that placed fifth at both the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.
