FMU's Strader Earns PBC Weekly Award

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior libero Jessica Strader has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference women’s volleyball Specialist of the Week for the opening portion of the 2005 season.

The Kettering, Ohio, native earns the award for the second time in her career, having previously gained the honor during October of 2004.

Strader averaged 4.13 digs per game and recorded a team-high 19 service aces during FMU’s opening eight matches.  The 6-2 start is the best for the Patriot program since 1998.

During Saturday’s 3-0 win over Catawba College, Strader surpassed 1,000 digs for her career.  She had 20 or more digs in three of the eight matches, this following the 2004 campaign when she set school and conference records for matches with at least 20 digs (17).

Strader is a former All-Ohio performer at Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School.
