FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s soccer team will recognize local youth soccer teams on Florence Soccer Association Appreciation Day, Saturday (Oct. 1) when the Patriots entertain 21st-ranked Lander University.

The key Peach Belt Conference match will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field, located behind the Smith University Center.  Admission is free.  The Patriot women’s soccer team will also play host to Lander at 1 p.m.

FSA squads are encouraged to wear their uniforms, and each squad will be recognized at halftime of the men’s match.  Teams who plan on attending the match should contact FMU assistant coach Kevin Varnado at 843-661-1241, or see him at the field prior to the start of the men’s match.

The Patriots are 6-4-0 and 0-1-0 in the Peach Belt, while Lander won its conference opener and was 6-1-1 heading into a Wednesday afternoon match with Lees-McRae College.
