FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University volleyball team will hold Senior Night when the Patriots play host to Peach Belt Conference-leading Armstrong Atlantic State University, Friday at 7 p.m.
FMU enters the contest with a 20-10 overall record and a 4-2 PBC mark, while AASU is 16-9 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
The contest will be the final 2005 home match for the Patriots, and the team will recognize its three seniors: Jessica Bartlett (Richmond, Va.), Kelly Feber (Norfolk, Va.), and Rachael Matthews (Hartsville).
Feber has appeared in 129 career matches (452 games) and compiled 1,329 digs, 1,074 kills, 162 service aces, and 110 total blocks. Matthews has appeared in 123 matches (412 games) and recorded 838 digs and 77 service aces.
Bartlett played her freshman year at FMU, transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University for the 2003 season, and then returned to Francis Marion in 2004. She has four-year totals of 129 matches (474 games), 1,124 kills, a .248 hitting percentage, 278 digs, 277 total blocks, 148 assists, and 40 service aces. She is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma (national college athletic honor society) and was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III Team (first team) in 2004.
These three players have helped lead FMU to a 65 wins over the past four years, including a pair of 20-win seasons.
The all-time series with AASU is deadlocked at 17-17 after the Pirates took a five-game win earlier this season in Savannah, Ga.
Following Friday’s match, Francis Marion will conclude its regular season with five conference road matches prior to the PBC Tournament.
