Patriot Men Host Senior Day Match vs. #15 Catawba
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s soccer team will celebrate Senior Day, when the Patriots entertain 15th-ranked Catawba College, Saturday afternoon (Oct. 29) at 2 p.m.
Admission is free.
The Patriots are 7-10-0 and will be attempting to snap a five-match losing streak. Catawba (12-3-1) is the fifth nationally ranked opponent FMU has faced in its last 10 matches.
Prior to the start of the match, Francis Marion will recognize its six seniors: midfielders Valentine Baker (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica), Brendan Chick (Camden, S.C.), and Anthony Addorisio (Toronto, Ontario, Canada); backs Andy Conrad (Edgewood, Ky.) and Mike Greenaway (Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada); and goalkeeper Jonathan Runion (Findlay, Ohio).
These six players have helped lead the Patriots to 39 victories over the past four seasons, including the 2002 Peach Belt Conference regular-season crown.
Runion has rewritten much of the Patriot recordbook, as he owns the FMU career marks for matches played in goal (69), matches started in goal (63), minutes played in goal (6,156), and saves (353). He has recorded 12 career shutouts and has a career goals against average of 1.65.
Greenaway, a two-time All-Region and All-Conference performer, has appeared in 65 career matches with six goals and four assists, while his teammate on the backline Conrad has played in 71 career matches with two goals and seven assists.
Addorisio has appeared in 69 matches, while registering two goals and three assists. Hampered by injuries, Chick has made 33 appearances and recorded one assist. Baker transferred to FMU from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 2004 and owns career totals of 47 matches, three goals, and 12 assists.
FMU will take to the road next week to play a first-round match in the Peach Belt Tournament, Wednesday at a site yet to be determined.
