FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University senior hitter Jessica Bartlett has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Volleyball Team for the College Division. It is the second consecutive year Bartlett has earned first team All-District honors.
The awards program is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America. District III includes Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and North and South Carolina.
Bartlett, a native of Richmond, Va., has appeared in all 36 matches this season and is averaging 2.79 kills and 0.52 blocks per game. She is fourth in the Peach Belt Conference with a .298 attack percentage. She has 1,200 career kills.
In the classroom, the chemistry major owns a 3.96 grade point average. She is a member of the FMU Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society. She was named to the PBC Presidential Honor Roll for 2003 and 2005, and has been selected to FMU’s Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic Honor Roll three times.
She has helped lead the Patriots to a 26-10 record, the ninth-highest win total in team history, and a second-place finish in the PBC regular season.
Francis Marion will play Lander University in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Augusta, Ga.
