FMU Volleyball Players Earn PBC Recognition
FLORENCE, S.C. – Three Francis Marion University volleyball players earned post-season honors at the recent Peach Belt Conference Tournament in Augusta, Ga.

Junior middlehitter Lezlie Logan (Cleburne, Texas) and senior outside hitter Jessica Bartlett (Richmond, Va.) were both named to the All-Conference Team, while freshman setter Jenna Kaiser (Broomfield, Colo.) was selected the Peach Belt’s Freshman of the Year.

Logan earns All-PBC honors for the second straight year. She leads the Patriots with 484 kills and 110 total blocks. She ranks third in the Peach Belt at 3.61 kills per game and averages 0.82 blocks per game. She has registered a .223 attack percentage, and compiled 0.13 service aces and 0.57 digs per game. With 1,393 career kills, she is only 130 shy of the Patriot career record.

Bartlett leads the Patriot hitters with a .294 hitting percentage, fourth-best in the Peach Belt. She is 10th in the conference with 2.83 kills per game, and is also averaging 0.52 blocks, 0.38 digs, and 0.31 assists per game. She has recorded 1,242 career kills.

Kaiser has directed the Patriot offense for much of the year and ranks first in the PBC with 10.32 assists per game. She has also compiled a .302 attack percentage, is fourth on the team with 2.71 digs per game, and has tallied 24 service aces and 40 total blocks.

Kaiser is the fourth FMU rookie to earn the award, joining Crystal Poskey (Co-Freshman of the Year in 1996), Logan (Co-Freshman of the Year in 2003), and Michelle Settergren (2004).

Both Bartlett and Kaiser were also named to last weekend’s PBC Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Francis Marion is 29-10 and last weekend earned the PBC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II national tournament by virtue of winning the conference tournament. FMU will face the University of Tampa, Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the Spartans’ home floor. The Patriots’ 29 victories is the fourth-highest win total in team history.
