FMU Men Host Lions on Saturday
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s basketball team will play host to Mars Hill College, Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Smith University Center.

FMU enters the game 2-2, while the Lions are 4-1.

Francis Marion’s two losses have both been on the road in games where the Patriots held double-figure second-half leads. Senior forward George Walker leads the Patriots in scoring at 17.5 points per game, followed by senior guards Vony Rivers (13.3 ppg) and Michael Jenkins (12 ppg). Senior forward Michael Carter leads FMU in rebounding at 5.8 rebounds per game.

Mars Hill has won the previous two meetings with Francis Marion, but this will be the Lion’s first-ever visit to Florence. Senior 6-3 wing player Walt Baxley leads the Lions in scoring at 28.4 ppg, while junior 6-7 post player Chris Aline is averaging 15.6 ppg and 11.0 rpg.

FMU opens Peach Belt Conference play on Wednesday when the Patriots play host to USC Upstate.
