FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University women’s basketball team will play its final home game of the 2005 calendar year when the Patriots play host to Anderson College, Wednesday evening (Dec. 14).
The non-conference tilt will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith University Center.
Francis Marion is 3-3 overall, but will be trying to stop a two-game home losing skid. Senior Danielle Moore leads the Patriots in scoring and rebounding with 17.3 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game averages. Moore is 25th on the Patriot career scoring list with 954 points.
Anderson (3-2) is led by 5-2 junior guard LaShonda Chiles with a 22.6 ppg average. Chiles, last season’s CVAC Player of the Year and the CVAC Female Athlete of the Year, has scored 1,513 career points, more than halfway to the NCAA Division II career scoring record of 2,810 held by Dina Kangas of the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Former FMU standout Jennifer Brabson holds the Palmetto State Division II scoring mark with 2,217 career points. Francis Marion’s Pearl Moore holds the all-divisions women’s mark of 4,061 points.
In 72 career games, Chiles has scored in double figures 68 times including her last 50 games in a row.
Last year, Anderson posted a 33-3 record with a No. 9 national ranking, and advanced to the NCAA Division II East Region final.
Francis Marion leads the all-time series 13-5, but the Trojans captured a 27-point decision last year in Anderson that snapped a 10-game FMU winning streak in the series.
