FMU Center of Excellence website features interactive message board for local teachers

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University Center of Excellence to Prepare Teachers of Children of Poverty has established an interactive message board on its website for area teachers.

The message board can be accessed by logging on to the center’s website, and clicking on the message board link. The message board is designed to give teachers an opportunity to communicate with each other on a variety of topics having to do with children of poverty, such as classroom management, culture of poverty, curriculum models, developing parent partnerships, health issues, language instruction issues, mathematics development, resources for teachers, science development, social studies development, and underachievement.

The FMU School of Education was awarded a five-year grant that established on campus the Center of Excellence. The grant includes a component that supports staff development and in-service training for teachers in the Pee Dee region.

For more information about the message board or the Center of Excellence, e-mail the center at, or call 843-669-3391 ext. 28.
