FMU Trustees To Hold Retreat Aug. 6-7
FLORENCE---The Francis Marion University Board of Trustees will hold its annual retreat Sunday and Monday, Aug. 6-7, at Santee Cooper’s Wampee Conference Center in Pinopolis.
The trustees will hear reports on campus development from chairman Ken Jackson, president Fred Carter and university officials. Topics to be discussed include academic affairs, campus facilities, the Swamp Fox Writing Project, the Pee Dee Fiction Festival, the Center for the Child, the Center of Excellence, student affairs, athletics, the FMU Foundation, community relations and alumni affairs.
The trustees will hold their quarterly board meeting at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7. Resolutions to be considered include approving a bachelor of science degree in middle level education, authorizing construction of new apartments for 200 students in the Forest Villas complex, and entering into agreements to accept conveyance of parcels of land from the City of Florence and McLeod Health to develop the FMU Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Florence.
