11 students named Patriot Scholars at FMU

            FLORENCE, S.C. – Eleven Francis Marion University students have been named Patriot Scholars for the 2006-07 academic year. Patriot Scholarships are FMU’s top institutional scholarships.

            Patriot Scholars receive $4,000 awards. The scholarships are awarded to outstanding freshmen who had at least a 3.5 grade point average in high school and scored 1270 or higher on the SAT.

            Recipients may renew the scholarships for up to three years by maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

            Patriot Scholars, by hometown, are:

Aiken: John Harold Corley

Darlington: Shannon E. Burr, Samuel D. McLellan

Florence: Robin Marie Bitzky, Stan McKay Havens, David P. Huggins, Jennifer Kaye Smith

Georgetown: Nichole B. Crosby

Lake City: Hope Jordana Wilson

Lamar: Jordan A. Bradshaw

Sumter: Heather R. Cosson
