Nicki Ard Scholarship established at FMU

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Nicki A. Ard Scholarship has been established at Francis Marion University by her brothers, Ken and Sammy Ard.

The late Nicki Ard was a 1995 graduate of FMU. Even though she was physically challenged all her life, she achieved much. Her music ministry and numerous speeches spread a message of hope and love to countless individuals across the country. She was crowned Miss Wheelchair USA in 2000.

“We are most appreciative of Ken and Sammy Ard creating this scholarship in their sister’s memory,” said Jay Dowd, FMU vice president for development and executive director of the FMU Foundation. “While perpetuating Nicki’s memory, they also felt strongly about providing students from Florence County, in particular their home community of Pamplico, the opportunity to attend FMU.”

The scholarship recipient must be a graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School and must demonstrate financial need. If there is no such candidate, the recipient must have graduated from a high school in Florence County.
