FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University will play host to the inaugural Peach Belt-CVAC Challenge, Friday through Sunday (Feb. 17-19) on FMU’s Cormell Field.
The three-day event will feature three teams from the Peach Belt Conference and three from the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference. Daily admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
The schedule for Friday will have Coker College playing UNC Pembroke at 11 a.m., FMU playing Barton College at 2:30 p.m., and Georgia College & State University playing Limestone College at 6 p.m.
The slate for Saturday has Francis Marion vs. Limestone at 11 a.m., Coker vs. GC&SU at 2:30 p.m., and UNCP vs. Barton at 6 p.m. Sunday’s games will be GC&SU vs. Barton at 11 a.m., UNCP vs. Limestone at 2:30 p.m., and FMU vs. Coker at 6 p.m.
Francis Marion is currently 5-2 and ranked 17th in latest NCAA Division II Top 25 poll, while GC&SU (5-2) is ranked No. 2. Limestone, coached by FMU graduate and former Patriot outfielder Anthony “Chico” Lombardo, is 5-3, while Coker is 4-1-1, Barton is 5-3, and UNCP is 5-3.
