FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University is ranked 24th in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, released on Monday.
The Patriots went 3-3 last week and dropped six positions from 18th to 24th. Dating back to last season, the Patriots have appeared in 22 consecutive polls.
Francis Marion, now 14-8 on the season, will return to action on Tuesday evening with a 7 p.m. home contest against Mars Hill College (13-13). FMU will also play host to Presbyterian College (8-20), Wednesday at 7 p.m., before playing a three-game Peach Belt Conference series at Augusta State University this coming weekend.
Junior outfielder Nick Stewart leads the Patriots in hitting (.350), home runs (3), doubles (7), and runs scored (19), while freshman third baseman Taylor Norfleet leads the squad with 26 runs batted in.
Sophomore right-hander Dusty Floyd, who owns a 2-0 mark with an 0.82 earned run average, is the Patriots’ probable starter on Tuesday.
FMU is 80-17-1 in its last 98 home games.
