Patriots Up to 13th in Baseball Poll, Host Newberry

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University climbed four positions to 13th in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, released on Monday.

The Patriots went 2-2 last week to improve to 21-10 overall and 7-5 in the Peach Belt Conference, but three of the games (1-2 mark) were against the nation’s second-ranked team.

Francis Marion will continue its 13-game homestand on Tuesday, playing host to Newberry College (7-28-1) for a non-conference game at 6 p.m.

The Patriots will then play host to PBC newcomer North Georgia College & State University (19-16) for a three-game PBC series, Saturday and Sunday. The two squads will play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Dating back to last season, the Patriots have appeared in 24 consecutive national polls.

FMU is 84-19-1 in its last 104 home games.
