FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior left-hander Lee Tabor has been named the Peach Belt Conference “Pitcher of the Week” for the week of April 3-10, the second time he has earned the award this season.
Tabor, a 6-1 170-pound Manning native, pitched a seven-hit 1-0 shutout against 26th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University on Sunday. He struck out eight and walked only one, while facing the best hitting team in the conference.
For the season, Tabor owns a 7-2 mark with a 2.35 earned run average. He has fanned a conference-leading 83 batters in only 65 innings. Going back to last season, he has allowed only 18 earned runs in his last 89 innings during the regular season.
The ninth-ranked Patriots conclude a 13-game homestand on Wednesday when they entertain St. Andrews Presbyterian College at 6 p.m. on Cormell Field. FMU is currently 28-11 and tied for second in the PBC standings with a 12-6 mark, one game behind conference-leading Georgia College & State University.
Tabor is a product of Manning High School.
