FLORENCE, S.C. – Fifth-ranked Francis Marion University will play 23rd-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University in the second of three first-round games at the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament on Thursday (May 11).
The four-day, double-elimination event is being held at USC Aiken’s 1,000-seat Roberto Hernandez Stadium. Daily admission is $5 for general admission; $3 for PBC University faculty, staff, or students with ID cards; and free for ages six-and-under.
Tournament action can be followed on the web at www.PacerSports.com/peachbeltbaseball
Francis Marion ended its regular season with a program-best 37-13 record, setting program highs for overall wins and conference victories (19). FMU finished second in the PBC standings. AASU is 38-14-1.
Thursday’s two other first-round games have top-ranked Georgia College & State University (46-8) facing USC Upstate (32-22) at 11 a.m. and 15th-ranked Columbus State University (37-17) meeting 16th-ranked USCA (41-15) at 7 p.m.
If FMU wins its opening game, the Patriots will face the CSU/USCA winner on Friday at 7 p.m. A loss on Thursday would put the Patriots into the losers’ bracket for an 11 a.m. game on Friday against the GC&SU/USC Upstate loser.
Game times for Friday and Saturday will be 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. The championship game is set for Sunday afternoon at a time to be determined, depending on how many games are needed to eliminate four of the six teams.
