FLORENCE, S.C. – A pair of Francis Marion University softball players are listed in the final 2006 NCAA Division II softball statistical report.
In the individual reports, sophomore Monica Wofford (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) ranked fourth in being hit by pitches and freshman designated player Shannan Tyson (Seminole, Fla.) ranked 18th in toughest to strike out. Wofford was plunked a school-record 13 times in 43 games, for a per-game average of 0.30. Tyson fanned only five times in 140 at bats, or once every 28 at bats.
In the team rankings, the Patriot women ranked 11th in Division II in doubles per game (1.74), 24th in home runs per game (0.86), and 41st in slugging percentage (.459).
Francis Marion posted a 27-16 record this past spring, finished sixth in the Peach Belt Conference regular-season standings, and narrowly missed a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the third consecutive year.
