March 3, 2008 - Francis Marion University athletic officials recently announced that former women’s volleyball and basketball player Jennifer Grande Parker and former men’s basketball player Daryl Blume are the newest inductees into the FMU Athletic Hall of Fame.

March 3, 2008 - Freshmen baseball player Tyler Lehman was looking forward to having an extra year at Francis Marion University to complete his Biology major and he had anticipated that the additional redshirt baseball season would allow him more time to work on his game.

February 14, 2008 - Francis Marion University senior guard Brittany Young has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 3 (College Division) women's basketball team.

February 20, 2008 - Averaging 13.7 points per game, and knocking in nearly 80 percent of her free-throws, senior guard Brittany Young leads the Francis Marion University women’s basketball team in scoring both on- and off-the-line.

February 12, 2008 - Francis Marion University officials have announced the All-Tournament Team for this past weekend’s third-annual Swamp Fox Challenge, held Feb. 7-10 on FMU’s Cormell Field and at New Field in Hartsville. The team included four Patriots: LHP Zach Farry, RHP Ed Paul, SS Greg Phelps, and OF Justin Greene.

February 29, 2008 - Francis Marion University seniors Franklyn Emmanuel and Sarka Vitkova have been named to their respective Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference men’s and women’s tennis teams. Emmanuel was one of seven players on the men’s squad, while Vitkova was one of six on the women’s team.

January 31, 2008 - Athletic Department officials at Francis Marion University have announced the hiring of Charley Mitchell of Raleigh, N.C., as assistant coach for men’s soccer and the university’s equipment manager. He is a former Patriot soccer player and an FMU graduate.

January 14, 2008 - Three Francis Marion University women’s soccer players – junior back Brandi Bonifay, junior midfielder Kiersten Nedervelt, and senior back Jody Rhoderick – have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Scholar All-South Region Team. All three earned honorable-mention recognition.

December 4, 2007 - For the fourth consecutive year, the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team has earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, this time ranking third out of all 314 NCAA Division I women’s programs. These most recent awards are for the 2006-07 school year. FMU ranked sixth among the more than 600 schools that sponsor women’s soccer (all divisions) with a cumulative 3.59 team GPA for the academic year.

November 14, 2007 - Francis Marion University junior outside hitter Jessica Lombardi was recently named to the 2007 All-Peach Belt Conference Volleyball Team.

December 12, 2007 - The Francis Marion University women’s soccer team finished 2007 as the 15th highest scoring team in NCAA Division I, while Patriot senior Ashley Fortune led all of Division I in assists, according to the end-of-the-season statistical report.

August 1, 2007 - Three Francis Marion University student-athletes were recently awarded NCAA Division II Degree-Completion Scholarship Awards for the 2007-08 academic year: cross country runner Megan Coy, softball player Jessica Johnson, and volleyball player Jessica Strader. The three are among 89 recipients nationwide.

May 31, 2007 - Commissioner Marvin Vanover recently announced the 16th edition of the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll, a list that includes 78 student-athletes from Francis Marion University. To be named to the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have maintained a 3.00 grade point average on a 4.00 scale during the 2006-07 academic year.

May 30, 2007 - Francis Marion University senior baseball outfielder Nick Stewart (Greenville, S.C.) and junior basketball point guard Brittany Young (Moncks Corner, S.C.) have been named to the second-annual Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. One male and one female student-athlete from each of the league’s 12 member schools were placed on the team.

November 8, 2007 - Francis Marion University freshman forward Juan Rivas has been named to the 2007 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Team. Rivas was selected to the 11-member second team, and is one of only five freshmen to garner All-Region recognition.

November 1, 2007 - Francis Marion University senior forward Jonathan Bartomioli, senior midfielder Biagio Galle, and freshman forward Juan Rivas have been named to the Peach Belt Conference 2007 men’s soccer All-Conference Team.

October 4, 2007 - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently announced its All-Academic Team listings for the 2007 season, and Francis Marion University was one of 61 NCAA Division II programs to garner recognition – and the only Peach Belt Conference school to be named to the list. The Patriots compiled a 3.470 cumulative grade-point average and were ranked 10th among Division II programs.

November 6, 2007 - Ten members of this past spring’s Francis Marion University softball team – senior infielder Janine Allen, freshman outfielder Kat Beauvais, sophomore outfielder Lakyn Bendle, freshman catcher Jamie Holmes, senior pitcher Jessica Johnson, sophomore infielder Shawn Moore, sophomore outfielder Megan Pangburn, senior outfielder Jenna Sexton, freshman pitcher Michaela Wolf, and junior infielder Monica Wofford – were recently named 2007 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes.
