FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University senior forward Jonathan Bartomioli, senior midfielder Biagio Galle, and freshman forward Juan Rivas have been named to the Peach Belt Conference 2007 men’s soccer All-Conference Team.
Bartomioli and Galle were two of only three Patriots to start all 18 matches this past season.
A native of Bartlett, Ill., Bartomioli tallied 11 points on four goals and three assists in 2007. A three-year starter, he ended his career with 18 goals and 16 assists.
Galle assisted on four scores from his midfield position, while directing a Patriot attack that at times featured six freshmen. The Toronto native appeared in 74 career matches and registered two goals and 12 assists.
Rivas, a native of Clearwater, Fla., led the Patriots in scoring with 23 points (nine goals, five assists) on only 24 shots (17 of which were on goal). He also tallied two match-winning scores, despite missing the final four matches of the year with an injury. He ranks sixth in the Peach Belt in goals scored and seventh in points.
The Patriots concluded their first season under head coach Kevin Varnado with a 5-12-1 record, a mark that included seven defeats by one goal. This is the first time since 2000 that FMU has placed as many as three players on the All-PBC squad.
