FMU women host Girls' Youth Soccer Day on Sunday

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University women’s soccer team will hold Girls’ Youth Soccer Day on Sunday (Oct. 21) when the Patriots entertain Howard University at 2 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field. Admission is free.

The first 30 girls through the gate wearing their youth soccer jersey will receive a Nike soccer ball. Every girl (any age) that arrives in their soccer jersey will receive a free hotdog and drink.

There will be an autograph session for the youth players with the current Patriot squad after the match.

Francis Marion owns a 6-5-1 record heading into Thursday night’s match at Liberty University. The Patriot offense is headed by sophomore forward Kirby Stenard, who’s nine goals rank her 17th in NCAA Division I in goals per match.

FMU and Howard have split their two previous meetings, with the Patriots winning 6-0 in Washington, D.C., last year and the Bison winning 2-1 in overtime in 2005 in Florence.

Four Francis Marion seniors; Ashley Fortune, Jody Rhoderick, Brandi Sutphin, and Jacque Sutphin; will also be recognized prior to the match.

FMU, in its first year as a full-fledged Division I member, owns an all-time home record of 86-16-5.
