FLORENCE, S.C. – Two Francis Marion University fall sports teams will be in action on Wednesday (Oct. 17), including the Patriot men’s soccer team hosting its second Passionately Pink for the Cure™ match.
The FMU men, 4-9 overall and 1-2 in the Peach Belt Conference, will play host to USC Aiken (6-7-1, 3-1) at 4 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field. Admission is free.
The Passionately Pink for the Cure™ program has been organized by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure group, and Wednesday’s event is being held in conjunction with the observance of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Fans attending the match are encouraged to wear pink. Donations will be taken during the match with all contributions going to Komen for the Cure. Souvenirs will be available at the match. To make an on-line donation go to:
FMU’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority has again joined in on this effort and will have a table set up at the field with educational information regarding breast cancer awareness and education. McLeod Regional Medical Center is also assisting in the event.
The FMU women’s volleyball team (10-18, 10-4) will travel to Savannah, Ga., on Wednesday to play PBC foe Armstrong Atlantic State University (13-16, 3-2) in a 7 p.m. match. The 6-5-1 FMU women’s soccer team will play at Liberty University (2-8-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
