FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University women’s basketball team will look to start 4-0 for the second time in four seasons when the Patriots entertain Wingate University on Tuesday evening (Nov. 27) at 7 p.m.   Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

The Patriot women have won their opening three games by an average of 34.3 points per game, while averaging 101.3 points per game. Wingate is 2-3 after suffering losses in its last two outings.

Junior center Ebony Allen (14.7 ppg) and senior guard Brittany Young (14 ppg) pace the FMU scoring attack. Young is fifth on the FMU career assists list with 449, 52 shy of fourth place, and has scored 838 career points.

Junior guard Anna Atkinson leads Wingate with averages of 17.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Francis Marion trails in the all-time series with Wingate 7-5, as the Bulldogs have won the last five meetings. Wingate won by one point last season and two of the other losses were in overtime.

FMU is 117-35 in its last 152 home games in the Smith University Center.

The 3-1 FMU men will return to action on Thursday (Nov. 29) when the Patriots play host to Morris College at 7:30 p.m.
