SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior right-handed pitcher Dylan Owen was named to the All-Tournament Team at the recent Peach Belt Conference Tournament held in Spartanburg.
Owen, a native of Chesterfield, helped Francis Marion to a 4-2 win over 30th-ranked USC Upstate in the opening round of the tournament. He allowed only six hits and two earned runs in 7.2 innings while striking out a career-high equaling and a PBC Tournament record 14 batters. It was his sixth double-digit strikeout effort of the year.
In the process, he established a new PBC career record for strikeouts with 334, surpassing the old mark of 328 set by Matt Incinelli of the University of North Florida (1999-2002).
Owen finished 2007 with a 10-1 record and 1.14 earned run average, while fanning 121 in only 102.1 innings pitched.
The Patriots compiled a 36-18 record and narrowly missed earning a bid to the NCAA Division II national tournament.
