April 22, 2008 Francis Marion University senior center fielder Justin Greene has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, for the period of April 14-20. Greene batted .615 (8-for-13) in a three-game series at ASU as Francis Marion won two of three games. He homered in every game, scored nine runs, and drove in nine. Read More
April 23, 2008 Francis Marion University’s Z-Z pitching duo of Zane Petty and Zach Farry combined on a 12-hit shutout as the 30th-ranked Patriots blanked Augusta State University 5-0 to earn a split of their Sunday afternoon (April 20) Peach Belt Conference doubleheader. ASU scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break an 8-8 deadlock and the Jaguars went on to a 12-10 win in game one. With the split, FMU ends its regular season 32-18 overall and 16-11 in the PBC, currently tied for third place. April 19, 2008 Senior center fielder Justin Greene belted three home runs, scored five times, and drove in seven runs as 30th-ranked Francis Marion University blasted Augusta State University 27-9, Saturday (April 19) in Peach Belt Conference baseball action. February 6, 2008 Despite recording only three hits and striking out 14 times, 24th-ranked Francis Marion University escaped with a 3-2 non-conference win over Newberry College, Tuesday evening (Feb. 5) spoiling the opening of Newberry's new Smith Road Complex. After 1,022 days without a baseball game on the campus of Newberry, what had once been only a dream became a reality, as the Indians hosted the first game on campus since April of 2005, but a three-run sixth inning by FMU dampened the atmosphere. January 28, 2008 Francis Marion University has been picked to finish fifth in the battle for the Peach Belt Conference baseball title, according to the annual preseason poll by the conference’s coaches. FMU, which did receive one first-place vote and finished only eight points out of second place, opens its 2008 schedule on Saturday (Feb. 2) at Valdosta State University. Read More
Francis Marion Ranked 25th in preseason NCAA II Baseball Poll

The Francis Marion University baseball team is ranked 25th in the preseason 2008 Collegiate Baseball Magazine Division II Top 40 poll.  The Patriots ended the 2007 season with a 36-18 record, the second-highest win total in the program’s history. FMU placed third during the Peach Belt Conference regular season and ended the year ranked 29th nationally. Eight of the squad’s losses were to nationally ranked opponents. Dating back to the 2005 season, the Patriots have appeared in 50 consecutive national polls. Five PBC squads are listed in the preseason poll, and five opponents on FMU’s 2008 schedule appear in the poll.

January 3, 2008 Francis Marion University baseball coach Art Inabinet has announced the addition of four players for the 2009 campaign, all of whom committed during the recent early signing period: infielder Barrett Kleinknecht of Florence, right-handed pitcher Brad Rollison of Simpsonville, catcher Jacob Wallace of Moore, and catcher Frankie Torres of Charlotte, N.C. Torres is currently a high school senior, while the other three will transfer in with two years of eligibility. Read More

October 30, 2007 The Francis Marion University baseball team recently held its sixth-annual blood drive on Oct. 29. Thirty-nine players participated, donating a total of 39 units to the Pee Dee chapter of the American Red Cross. Through this annual event, the baseball program has donated more then 190 units over the past six years. Read More

June 29, 2007 Francis Marion University baseball coach Art Inabinet has announced that outfielder Daniel “Bucky” Wells of Surfside Beach and right-handed pitcher Zane Petty of Myrtle Beach, both products of Socastee High School, will join the Patriot baseball squad this fall.
