FLORENCE, SC – Senior guard Brittany Young’s 16 points paced six players in double figures as Francis Marion University downed The Apprentice School 115-52, Saturday evening (Nov. 24) in non-conference women’s basketball action.

Following Young was Ebony Allen with 13 points, Evelyn Ruff 11, YaRiah Bell 10, Shannon Singleton-Bates 10, and Kirby Marsh 10.  The 5-6 Young also led FMU with nine rebounds, while handing out five assists.

Francis Marion improved to 3-0 while eclipsing the 100-point mark for the second consecutive game, a first since the 1987-88 season.  Also for the second straight game, 14 Patriots cracked the scoring column.

Junior Rahshann Lewter led the Apprentice School (1-2) with 15 points, a performance that included a 11-of-15 showing from the foul line.  Freshman 6-2 center Shade Blow came off the Lady Builders’ bench to compile 11 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.

Leading 15-10 with 12:32 left in the first half, Francis Marion used a 15-1 spurt to open a 30-11 margin.  The lead grew to 64-25 at halftime as the Patriots came within five points of the school-record for most points in a half.

FMU forced 44 turnovers and converted them into 44 points.  The Patriots also held a 33-8 advantage in fast-break points.

Francis Marion plays host to Wingate University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.   The Apprentice School plays at UNC Pembroke on Sunday (Nov. 25) at 1 p.m.
