FLORENCE, SC – Sophomore midfielder Ivan Juric scored one goal and assisted on two others to lead Francis Marion University to a 4-2 exhibition win over St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Saturday afternoon (Aug. 23) in men’s soccer action.

Francis Marion opens its regular season on Friday at Lees-McRae College.

Juric assisted on the match’s opening goal scored by FMU freshman Emerson Peredo in the 42nd minute. Juric then doubled the margin one minute into the second half when he scored off an assist from freshman Cameron Mabee.

The advantage grew to 3-0 when freshman Adrian Sikorski took a Juric pass and lofted the ball over the goalkeeper’s hands at the 48:23 mark.

The Knights trimmed the margin to 3-2 when sophomore Brian Humphrey angled in a shot from the left side at 50:14 and Justin Garton scored off a Paulo Brunetto cross that deflected off the left post at 67:45.

Patriot sophomore Juan Rivas scored an insurance goal for FMU in the 79th minute when he played give-and-go with Adam Dillihay.

FMU goalkeepers Clark Richeson (2 saves) and Nick Krywyj (1 save) each played one half. St. Andrews senior Nick Stevens played the entire match in goal and registered nine saves. Francis Marion outshot St. Andrews 17-7 and both teams took two corner kicks.
