#9 FMU Upset by Limestone

GAFFNEY, SC - The ninth-ranked Francis Marion University baseball continued its hitting woes on Wednesday afternoon (March 30), falling 5-1 to Limestone College in non-conference action.  It is the seventh straight game FMU has failed to compiled at least 10 hits.

FMU drops to 21-11-1 with its fourth straight loss.  The Patriots will play host to Columbus State University for a three-game Peach Belt Conference series this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Senior righty Chas Dobes (3-2) went the distance for FMU and was tagged with the loss.

Limestone (21-15-1), coached by former Patriot outfielder Chico Lombardo, picked up its third win over a ranked team this season as the Saints racked up 10 hits.

Limestone's Jamie Langford (1-1) tossed seven innings and allowed just one run on four hits to earn his first collegiate win.

Travis Clary hit a lead-off triple for the Saints and gave Limestone a 1-0 lead when he scored on a groundout from Matt Craig.  Limestone tallied three more runs in a third inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Mitch House.

The Patriots scored their lone run in the fifth inning when Omar Quiles knocked an RBI single. FMU junior catcher Nick Richardson returned after missing 28 games with an injury to go two-for-three and he scored the one Patriot run.

Limestone added its final run in the sixth frame.  Clary and Richmond Lutz each had a pair of hits for Limestone.
