FMU Falls to #7 Tampa

SAVANNAH, GA - Seventh-ranked University of Tampa used a strong hitting attack to down Francis Marion University 31-29, 30-23, 30-28, Sunday afternoon (Sept. 18) on the final day of the AASU Volleyball Clash in Savannah, Ga.

The Patriots fall to 11-5, while Tampa ups its mark to 11-2.  FMU will play at local rival Coker College, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Patriot senior Kelly Feber was the lone FMU player with double figure kills, as she posted 12.  Sophomore setter Brittany Helgeson compiled 23 assists, while junior libero Jessica Strader recorded 12 digs and seven service aces.  As a team, Francis Marion served 12 aces.

Tampa outhit the Patriots .290 to .149, and the Spartans had a .316 hitting mark in the pivotal second game.
