Francis Marion Sweeps Cobras in Volleyball Action

HARTSVILLE, SC - Senior Kelly Feber posted her eighth double-double of the season with 18 kills and 11 digs to lead Francis Marion University to a 30-19, 30-25, 30-24 non-conference win over local-rival Coker College in women's volleyball action Wednesday evening (Sept. 21).

With the victory FMU moves to 12-5 and sweeps the season series over the Cobras, while Coker drops to 4-10.

FMU junior Lezlie Logan had 12 kills, while sophomore Jackie Phiel compiled 10 kills and 10 digs.  Sophomore setter Brittany Helgeson directed the FMU offense with 29 assists in two games, while libero Jessica Strader led the Patriot defense with 18 digs.

Coker was led by junior Tara Nelson who had 30 assists, while senior Andrea Manuel had nine kills and 12 digs.

FMU opens Peach Belt Conference play on Friday when the Patriots travel to Savannah, Ga., for a 7 p.m. match-up with Armstrong Atlantic State University.  The Cobras return to action on Saturday, when they travel to face CVAC opponent Belmont Abbey in Charlotte, NC.
