FLORENCE, SC – Junior Lezlie Logan recorded a game-high 17 kills, while posting a .419 hitting percentage, to lead Francis Marion University to a 30-27, 30-19, 32-30 victory over local-rival UNC Pembroke, Wednesday night (Sept. 28) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.

FMU evens its PBC mark at 1-1, while upping its overall record to 13-7.  UNCP falls to 5-12 and 0-2.

Logan, who also had four block assists, was the lone player on either squad to register double-figure kills.  Senior Jessica Bartlett had nine kills and four total blocks for FMU, while senior Kelly Feber compiled six kills and a team-high 13 digs.  Sophomore setter Brittany Helgeson handed out 22 assists and recorded 10 digs prior to leaving the match with an ankle injury.  Freshman Jenna Kaiser finished the match at setter and dished 11 assists.

Junior Rachelle Milbank led UNCP with seven kills and four total blocks, but the Braves managed to hit only .015 as a team.  Junior libero Alex Cogdill dug out 20 balls, while Lexie Wood led UNCP with 14 assists and five service aces.

FMU will play host to USC Upstate in a Peach Belt Conference match, Friday at 7 p.m., while UNCP entertains Lander University the same night at 7 p.m.
