KITTY HAWK, N.C. -- The Francis Marion University men's golf team carded a final-round 306 team score to finish in a tie for 13th place at the 26th-annual Old Dominion University/Seascape Invitational Tournament, an event won by the host school with a big comeback.
FMU stood fifth after the opening day, but the Patriots' team score for the final 18 holes was 22-over-par. ODU trailed first-round leader Liberty University by eight strokes, but the Monarchs bested the field with a five-under-par 279 team score on the final day. Kennesaw State University and George Washington University tied for second place, six strokes behind ODU.
Scott Marino of James Madison University earned medalist honors as he fired rounds of 69 and 68 to finish at five-under-par 137.
Sophomore Colin Floyd tied for 30th in the individual standings at 73-74=147 to lead the Patriot golfers. Jacob Tveit tied for 37th (75-73=148), while Aengus McAllister was 47th (72-79=151), Fredrick Fox tied for 55th (74-80=154), and Battle Hartman tied for 72nd (79-84=163).
Francis Marion will compete in the Troy University Invitational, Nov. 7-8 in Montgomery, Ala.
