FMU Men Fall to FSU 63-60 in Season Opener
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Senior guard Clarence Ferguson scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Fayetteville State University to a come-from-behind 63-60 win over Francis Marion University, Tuesday evening (Nov. 15) in men's basketball action.
 
The game was the season opener for both squads.
 
Senior swingman George Walker led FMU with career-high totals of 16 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Michael Jenkins added 15 points and senior Vony Rivers 12.
 
FMU led 38-28 at halftime.  After hitting seven of 14 three-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes, the Patriots managed to hit only one of 12 long-range shots in the second stanza.  FMU hit 13 of 16 free throws in the opening half, but was only one of three from the foul line over the final 20 minutes.
 
Francis Marion will play host to local-rival Coker College, Friday at 8 p.m. as part of the Zaxby's Patriot Clazzic.
