Patriot Netters Beat #26 Erskine Women 7-2
DUE WEST, S.C. – Francis Marion University evened its season record at 1-1 with a convincing 7-2 win over 26th-ranked Erskine College, Saturday afternoon (Feb. 4) in women's tennis action.
 
The 36th-ranked Patriots (1-1) opened their 2006 season with a narrow 5-4 home loss to Brenau University on Friday afternoon. FMU will play host to NCAA Division I Charleston Southern University, Friday at 2:30 p.m.
 
Against Erskine, Francis Marion won all three double matches, including a 9-8 win at No. 2 and a 9-7 victory at No. 3.
 
FMU sophomore Sarka Vitkova defeated Jennifer Gennaoui at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-4, while Patriot sophomore Jenny Ludwig defeated Ellen Dawson at the No. 2 spot 6-1, 6-2. FMU juniors Kamini Murugaboopathy and Magda Jezovicova also captured straight-set wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles positions respectively.
