MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. –  The nationally ranked Francis Marion University men's and women's tennis teams defeated Mount Olive College by identical 8-1 scores, Sunday (March 19) in non-conference action at the Walker Tennis Center.
 
In the men’s match, four of the six singles matches either went three sets or were decided by a 10-point tie-breaker. FMU's only loss came in a tie-breaker at No. 4 singles.  The 16th-ranked Patriots improve to 10-1, while Mount Olive falls to 5-11.
 
On the women’s side, FMU's Sarka Vitkova lost to Lucia Henkle at No. 1 singles, falling in a marathon 16-14 third set.   FMU, ranked No. 13, ups its record to 8-4, while the Mount Olive women drop to 6-6.
 
Francis Marion plays host to Lincoln Memorial University, Wednesday at 2 p.m. in non-conference men’s and women’s action.
