OOLTEWAH, TN – The Francis Marion University golf team placed 17th at the season-opening Scenic City Invitational, hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
The 54-hole event was contested on the par-72, 7,215-yard Honors Golf Club course.
Sophomore Ronan O’Connor paced the Patriot golfers as he finished tied for 26th with a 76-73-81=230 tally. Other FMU golfers included freshman Chris Couch tied for 39th (77-75-81=233), sophomore Andrew Pitcher tied for 60th (78-79-80=237), freshman Jonathan Lavin in 85th position (83-82-86=251), and junior Jacob Tveit tied for 86th (85-84-83=252).
UNC Charlotte topped the team standings with an 890 score, while Francis Marion stood at 948. Garrett Osborn of the University of Alabama-Birmingham earned medalist honors with a one-over-par 74-69-74=217 score.
FMU will play host to the 22nd-annual Raines Development Group Intercollegiate Tournament, Monday and Tuesday at the Country Club of South Carolina.
