KITTY HAWK, NC – Led by freshman Christopher Couch’s even-par 70, Francis Marion University climbed three positions to finish seventh at the 27th-annual Old Dominion University/Seascape Collegiate Tournament.
The Patriots were tied for 10th after the opening round, but gained three positions over the final 18 holes to finish with a 584 tally. Campbell University won the team title with a 556 score. East Carolina University (560) was second, followed by Winthrop University (567), ODU (569), Radford University (577), James Madison University (579), FMU, University of Delaware (585), and Boston College and Kennesaw State University (586) to round out the Top 10.
The tournament, which featured 18 teams, was played on the par 70, 6,131-yard Seascape Golf Course.
Sophomore Andrew Pitcher led the Francis Marion finishers by tying for 28th position at 73-72=145. Junior Jacob Tveit tied for 33rd place one stroke back at 74-72=146. With his final round, Couch rallied to place 54th (80-70=150) along with sophomore Ronan O’Connor (71-79=150. Sophomore Keith Crowley tied for 60th place with consecutive rounds of 76.
Campbell’s Kyle Spahr earned medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 6-under-par 134.
The Patriots, in their second year of transitioning to NCAA Division I membership, conclude their fall schedule with a 25-42 record.
