FLORENCE, S.C. - The seventh-ranked California University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team jumped to a 5-0 lead after doubles play and the first two singles matches and went on to claim a 7-2 non-conference win over 19th-ranked Francis Marion University, Thursday afternoon (March 15) on the Kassab Courts.

The Vulcans improve to 17-1, while FMU (7-2) suffers its first home loss of the season. Francis Marion will play host to eighth-ranked Columbus State University, Saturday at noon.

Only seniors Kamini Murugaboopathy at No. 2 singles and Magda Jezovicova at No. 3 singles were able to secure wins for Francis Marion. Murugabopathy is 8-1 in singles play this season, while Jezovicova is 7-1.

California University (Pa.) won all three doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores.
