FLORENCE, S.C. – The nationally ranked Francis Marion University men’s and women’s tennis teams swept to relatively easy Peach Belt Conference wins over Georgia Southwestern State University, Saturday afternoon (March 31) on the Kassab Courts.
The 29th-ranked FMU men won all three doubles matches en route to a 7-2 victory. Junior Franklyn Emmanuel won in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) at No. 1 singles as the Patriots even their overall mark at 5-5 and improve to 2-3 in the PBC. GSW drops to 4-11 and 1-6.
The 17th-ranked Patriot women (8-4, 3-3) lost only seven total games in a 9-0 blanking of the Lady Hurricanes (4-10, 0-8).
Both FMU squads will play host to Mount Olive College, Wednesday at 2 p.m.
