FLORENCE, S.C. – The nationally ranked Francis Marion University men’s and women’s tennis teams both swept to relatively easy non-conference wins over visiting Wingate University, Tuesday afternoon (April 10) on the Kassab Courts.
The 19th-ranked Patriot women (11-5) lost only 20 games en route to a 9-0 blanking of the Wingate women (2-17). Sarka Vitkova won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to push her season record to 10-5.
The 25th-ranked FMU men (7-6) lost only one match (at No. 5 singles) as they took an 8-1 win over the Bulldog men (4-15). At No.1 singles, Francis Marion’s Franklyn Emmanuel upped his season mark to 12-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-sets victory.
Both FMU squads play host to North Georgia College & State University, Friday at 2 p.m. Wednesday’s (April 11) match with Armstrong Atlantic State University has been moved to Monday at 2 p.m.
